"WHAT'S THE DIFFERENT STORY?"


"Different Story" was written and recorded to plug the gap between the album and forthcoming gigs. We thought it would be good to have more uptempo numbers in our set.

Originally the lyrics reflected the situation in Iraq ("you're a has-been with your regime") but I decided to write about a man mired in regret, but it's about no one in particular.

"Different Story" should have been finished in March but the original backing sounded a bit thin. So we went back, dubbed on an extra snare, and added 6 backing vocals to sound like a football crowd! I had in mind a post-punk sound which is why there are 4 guitars.
