Don Jeffries: Drums
Having seen a slightly annoying trio called the Tiger Lilys at a private party, I decided to impersonate their high pitched operatic singer for my own amusement.
And it appeared to work! The tune for "Beautiful Love" came to me in a flash!
Later I ditched the Lily-ish voice in favour of a more normal higher harmony. However Guy (Fruitbowl cover artist) heard the Lily version, loved it, and persuaded me to bring it back! So now you know who to blame if you find it irritating!
I was after a Jamaican ska sound, which was why the tinny piano and the cheesy organ were so deliberate.
I desperately needed a drummer and rang a few people. Don was 71 years young and into jazz. Luckily being a reggae track didn't seem to faze him! We had no choice but to set up the drums in my flat (AKA Manorside Studios!) and annoy the neighbours for an afternoon.

Because my Mum liked it, "Beautiful Love" came on as a late substitution for a couple of tracks that were dropped. The album had taken so long that "College" was now ancient history. I needed something poppy and tuneful to fill the gap.
From that initial "Lily" session where I made up the tune, to it's mixing, "Beautiful love" had taken over 5 years to complete! Typical of much of the work on this album, "BL" had evolved over many various periods.
There were many more months of mixing and editing, but I'd finally finished recording my first ever CD.....
