"FAR AWAY" REVIEWS

I Got My Spurs On
Beginning harmonica reminds me of "Midnight Cowboy" the movie.
There are other parts that remind me of the song by the actor who played Ben Cartwright from the TV show "Bonanza". The song was called "Johnny Ringo".
This is an electic song, with cowboys in the midst. Different but the mood is conveyed.
Best of luck!

All about mood. Great storytelling-type tune
This tune has a lot going for it. The haunting western-type feel is consistent throughout the track while there are enough changes sonically to keep me captivated.
I love the call and answer of the vocals and guitar. The heavy reverb on the vocals and great guitar fills really cement the theme.
Super track.

The perfect Sergei Leone soundtrack
The perfect Old Western soundtrack.
Very distinctive presentation.
It has a playful 70s style to it all.
I like the energetic chorus of "Far Away",especially when the flutes kick in. A great Sergei Leone soundscape. I feel transported by this track which is cool.

Ghostly - Quirky
It definitely has it's own sound. The atmosphere could have been a children's song in the old west. A cross between Jonny Cash and Mister Rodgers. I don't think it's meant to be a hit of any kind, and I think the lyrics are actually quite vague. The delivery however of vocal is good in a quirky way. The instruments are very bare and it just plods along (as it should). I like the steel guitar and the harmonica.
Extra Credit: Originality.

Folk psychedelia
It's definitely not pop -- but that's what I like about it. It is certainly a lot different from other songs that I have heard; I like the inclusion of harmonica, the archaic lyrics, and spoken word atmosphere that is created. More than anything, this strikes me as a folk song.
If I were to say what this sounds like-- something about it reminds me of XTC in its sheer weirdness, I mean that as a compliment. Thank you for the unique listening experience."

Reverb as metaphor - nice
Interesting use of reverb to drive home the chorus line 'far away' - I liked the use of alternative percussion and how it varied - it helped kept the song interesting. I liked the use of the slide guitar, gave it an early pink floyd feel.
A couple things, the reverb was a bit thick, I'm wondering if a little bit more predelay might help clean up the attack, while still preserving the use of reverb to give a 'far away' feel to the song.
I thought there was a lot rhyming in the lyrics and it might be cool to throw the listener off by not rhyming sometimes, but it's not a deal breaker. I liked the overall feel of the tune and the use of harmonica and the other instrumentation.

Not Bad
Moody piece. Very Johnny Cash sort of feel, even without the gravel in the voice. Chorus is good but it has waaayyyyy to much reverb on it. You sound mainly like yourself but also with a bit of Johnny Cash and Peter Gabriel. Not bad

Very unique
The lyrics are very good. Very original. This sounds like this song can be like in a Kill Bill movie. The mood is a unique but sweet one. "how the west was won" part and "far away" are awesome. Good job.

Spoken verse is cool.. chorus is very late 60's sounding. almost like pink floyd. ilike the light whimsical mood.. i like the reverb used. Panflute section is a nice little change.. this is a fun song with a fun tale told in the lyrics. it even gets better as it goes on. very good job, by the end of the song i want to hear it again.

Nice Harmonica...
Never really hear a whole lot of harmonica anymore. I like the folk mood. The effect on the voice needs to be lost. But I like the folk feel. Sounds like a beatles mixed with country/folk.

Unique
Dylanesque harmonica opens this one. It soon becomes apparent this is some kind of Johnny Cash style western tale. Very different. The "far away" melody is beautifully haunting. Overall a creative and different track. Is all of your stuff this style or is this just one color on your palette?"
