"RUBBER BRA" REVIEWS

Rubber Bra

The build-up gets us ready for action. And then, at fifteen seconds when we expect it, Nada! However, we persevere, and are pleasantly surprised by an English fashion announcer extolling the virtues of the rubber bra. Funny.

Interesting

But not in the bad way. The lyrics are great. It's not often I laugh at a song. I would say the music is lacking, but it fits the style of song. The whole song could use a better recording and some production.

The mood change is good as well, it keeps the song from getting too trite too fast. Nice guitar riff. I like the song, not my style, but good none the less.

Adam Ant Dance remix

I really like the goofy 80's novelty feel of this song. The lyrics really crack me up. I think the home recorded feel of this really suits the song. I might try to cut the musical breakdowns a bit. A 3 minute song about fetish wear is funny. A 5 minute one borders on obsessive.

Rubber blah

Lol... rubber bra. The performance is so perfectly tongue in cheek. The song is very funny yet well done. Clever lyrics. production is great-- interesting lyrics and music. Unfortunately its just more sonic objectification of women's bodies.

Rubber bra-ing

Long intro. Just under 30 seconds. But wait -- the voice part has just set in -- love it! A glorious Brit accent (can't place the region though)- a bit Ian Drury-ish with a cheekiness that so suits the song. I'm in two minds whether or not to suggest treating the vocals during the mixing process to highlight the quirkiness -- dunno - could work, but would have to be cleverly done otherwise it could sound dated and awful.

Uh oh - the voice has tried to become a singer ... hmmm ... maybe think about doubling (quadrupling even?) all the sung parts ... and yep, you need some backing singers. Either that or a pack of soothers. Don't let that put you off though -- I really am enjoying this.

Guys -- your lyrics are so dumb, they're just simple enjoyment. I'm just sorry you're so fixated with rubber bras -- at least I know what to get you for a xmas present. The mid (the Yanks call it the bridge) is pretty cool -- a great change of pace that is so out of whack with what the listener expects that it fits gorgeously into place.

Look, I could make heaps more comments on production or arrangement - but the fact is this works as is and any attempts to give it polish will ultimately destroy the song. Good luck guys.

Rock 'n Roll

This is a rock 'n roll song and I liked the old-school vibe of this tune. I liked the way the vocals were more spoken in the verse than actually sung. At first I thought it wasn't going to work but it sounded cool.

Rubber bra!

Wow! What an opening. It really builds the rhythm and the final drum crescendo. The backing track is okay, the electric guitar has a cool sound to it and the campy vocal and lyrics ensure that you cant take this one too seriously!

Quite amusing, the refrain 'rubber bra' might be used a little too much, but the variety of tempos used throughout the song reduce the probablility of it getting boring. The drums are quite prominent, as is the synthy sounding guitar, all of which are played with a lot of competence: the backing track sounds quite professional, if a little computerised at times. Still, quite funny.

I'm turning Japanese

This is the song I've been waiting for. Thanks for writing it. You are very strange, or at least this is a weird song.

The music itself is passable, very post-newwave-punk. It's the ridiculous lyrics that make me keep listening. Until next time....
