Originally conceived in North London in 1995, Wilberforce consists of....
Named after a Prime Minister's cat, Wilberforce first made waves with "College" in 1996, written specifically for a course project.
Emerging from "the wilberness years" with their official web site, they then released long awaited debut album "Madame Fruitbowl" on Newlove Records in 2002, universally praised for it's originality and fruitiness by press and fans alike.
Since then Wilberforce have played scaled-down "gigs" to audiences in England and Holland, followed by a major local newspaper article tipping the band for big things, and releasing a couple of new tracks including "Theme for a Holiday" online.
After a series of drummers, Wilberforce have drafted in acclaimed session musician Ian Escario to finish up the new album. With Romuald Wadych becoming the latest recruit on bass, Wilberforce are set for a very busy second half to 2007 with the release of the anticipated new album central to the groups plans. It promises to be an enigmatic change of direction!
Wilberforce's British pop heritage credentials also emphasise humour, diversity, quality, value for money and loyalty to their fanbase.
