Mark Tingley has been the guiding light behind Wilberforce since 1995. He's been writing and recording songs since the age of 16 and played in several bands, most notably Blob Hotel, who released three albums. Born in London, Mark moved to Sidcup, Kent (just outside London) when he was 2 and cut his teeth on the fledgling local scene in his first group Elastic Band. In 1987, Mark formed a new band Blob Hotel, out of which came the debut album "Blob Collect" in 1988. Two albums followed, amid several line-up changes and a handful of live gigs. This sealed a reputation for writing melodic pop with insightful lyrics. It was always music that was most important. "Madame Fruitbowl" was the culmination of 6 years writing, recording and producing.

Meantime Mark continues to steer the band through more projects, including completing the new album, as well as playing in the Spook Orchestra with Helen.
