MEET WILBERFORCE - WILBER WHO?
|
NIGEL MARVIN
Technical Wizz
Nigel Marvin's many talents extend from wine tasting and art to beer and athletics. But no one can deny his real forte is music.
Born in Plumstead, Nigel grew up in Sittingbourne where he wrote hundred of songs, eventually moving back to London with Growlin' Sturgeon to form alternative punksters Futile Gestures.
Later, Nigel fronted seminal obtuse popsters the Simpletons, recording a canon of classic songs influenced by The Chameleons, Love, Slade and Bogshed to name but a few.

However, it was through an ad in a music shop listing the little known Bogshed as an influence that brought Mark and Nigel together for Blob Hotel until it's demise in 1995.
Since it's beginnings, Nigel has been an integral part of the Wilberforce machinery. Having first inspired the group's name, he built "Skipper" (the computer that helped shape "Madame Fruitbowl"), lent a hand as chief technical advisor, and played guitars and bass on "Gooseberry" as well as singing backing vocals on "Won't Bring Us Down" ("Thank you very much").
And under the guise of "The Marv", Nigel has also created radical remixes of several "Fruitbowl" tracks for a future project.
Meantime Futile Gestures continue to write and produce their new album at Marvellous Studios, London.
